One of the Seven Sisters of India, Arunachal Pradesh is located in the northeast of the country. It shares its boundaries with Assam and Nagaland in the south, Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east and China in the north. Itanagar is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. The state is also known as the “Land of the Dawn-Lit Mountains”.

Surrounded by the Himalayas, the state offers beautiful landscapes to be enjoyed. The mountains divide the state into five river valleys – Subansiri, Siang, Kameng, Tirap and Lohit. Siang River is the mightiest of all, and is also referred to as Tsangpa in Tibet, which later becomes the Brahmaputra. Tourists can take up various adventure sports like hiking, trekking, rafting, boating and angling. The state has a rich wildlife inhabitation and has a number of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries worth visiting.

Popular tourist attractions in the area are Tawang, Basar, Ziro, Namdapha tiger project, Ganga Lake and the bamboo bridges at Sela Lake. There are various religious places to visit in Arunachal Pradesh, namely Parshuram Kund, Malinithan and Rukmininagar. The Jawahar Lal Nehru Museum is an important tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh.
